Airlines prefer to utilize standardized conditions (e.g., CPT IKA) to ensure fair comparison of supplier bids.
This course examines various delivery conditions within the procurement process of spare parts by Iranian airline companies. These conditions include EXW (Ex Works, delivery at the supplier’s premises), FOB (Free on Board, delivery on the vessel), CPT (Carriage Paid To, delivery with transport paid to destination), and DDP (Delivered Duty Paid, delivery with all customs duties covered). Each of these terms defines a distinct allocation of responsibilities between the supplier and the airline. For instance, under EXW, the airline assumes full responsibility for transportation, insurance, and customs clearance, whereas under DDP, the supplier covers all these obligations.
Due to variations in cost structures, EXW prices may appear lower but impose significant additional expenses on the airline, while DDP encompasses all costs at a higher initial price. Consequently, Iranian airlines prefer suppliers to adopt a standardized condition—preferably CPT IKA (Carriage Paid To Imam Khomeini Airport)—to facilitate a fairer and more transparent comparison of costs. This document also emphasizes the critical importance of thoroughly reviewing delivery terms and understanding the total cost implications, including unit price, transportation, insurance, and customs duties.
